okay, I lie, there's no "ho-made goodness" in this sign except that I was the one who spotted it near my . . . HOme . . . and you can see my HOmely hand in the picture . . .
but seriously? my first thought was, "what litigious, overly protective, needs-to-be-b#$%^-slapped mother was behind THIS ridiculous and utterly unnecessary signage?"

If you'd ever tried to calm a child who has had the sh!$ scared out of them by a loud-flushing toilet (sometimes literally), you would probably have a different reaction to a sign like this. As a parent who has a kid with sensitive ears, I actually appreciate this sign.
What did you say? I couldn't hear you over the sound of the flushing. Yet another thing to add to my list of things to fear.

I agree! Whenever I take my 4-year old to go "potty" in a public restroom, he goes to the sink and covers his ears while I flush the toilet. Sounds ridiculous, but you'll understand when you have kids...
Some of the new low-water toilets are REALLY loud. They've hurt *my* ears and scared me, too!
And I'm a grownup. It's much harder for a 3-year-old (or younger). Their ears are actually much more sensitive, and being startled is really hard for them.
I have a 6-year-old who's still terrified of the toilets that automatically flush after being scared by one that went off (very loudly) while she was sitting on it a few years ago. I like this sign, too...
