This was spotted by Becky in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Perhaps they're baking pet TREATS, but it's more fun to imagine the alternative . . .

no flying, either! and walking on water is strictly prohibited!
Bailey C spotted this gem at a hotel pool in Aiken, SC.
Apparently there is a ban on diving OUT OF the pool . . . but for real? I'd like to see that!
Thanks, Bailey!

All God's creatures . . .
Delish!
and if you're one of those animal-loving types, don't yell at me, yell at Jessica, who sent it to me. ;-)
good advice!
Thanks once again to Angie for this one!
ps--I have no good excuse for why I've been out of commission for months now . . . I've been busy, blah blah blah . . . but here I am.

Gravy . . . you betcha!
Janessa, who wonders where gravy really DOES fit on the food pyramid, spotted this in Spokane, WA.
(It's quite clearly a vegetable! It goes over mashed potatoes, right?)
She owes me ;-) a picture of the sign on the other side, which apparently says, "You Betcha!"

That son-of-a-#$^# can't be trusted!
Saw this at my friend's kids' school . . . ah, what they could have avoided with the use of a well-placed hyphen!

everybody loves a sale . . .
. . . but Mike from greeklish.org found this great deal in Toronto a couple of years ago . . . seriously--marked down and everything!

ho-me grown here in West Michigan
okay, I lie, there's no "ho-made goodness" in this sign except that I was the one who spotted it near my . . . HOme . . . and you can see my HOmely hand in the picture . . .
but seriously? my first thought was, "what litigious, overly protective, needs-to-be-b#$%^-slapped mother was behind THIS ridiculous and utterly unnecessary signage?"
worst. stocking stuffer. EVER.
Janessa T's commentary here is worth the price of admission in its own right:
"All right, so it's a bit outdated [um, yeah, that's what she said A MONTH AGO when she first sent this to me]--but still ridiculously funny. I took this at a Walgreens. I don't know anyone who gets stockings from anyone other than their parents, and to pull a bottle of lube out of my stocking in front of my family would be worse than my mom telling me you can buy adult material on eBay but can't pay for it on PayPal (true story)."

Strickly Speaking
Kelley from Atlanta, GA found this gem . . .
Kelley notes:
You'll also notice a missing apostrophe in "owners" and a missing parentheses at the beginning of the area code. And, on a totally different level, I am also amused at the idea of the actual violators being towed or booted, instead of their cars. ;-)
I would tend to agree with her . . . seems like somebody's sign maker needs to be "booted"!

while I've been gone . . .
never fear . . . there are other wonderful people holding up the mantle of . . . whatever it is we're trying to do here!
including this appealing restaurant sign with a deeply philosophical viewer's commentary . . .
seriously . . . "baby" sausages? that sounds cute . . . no wait. maybe it sounds creepy . . . no, cute. um, creepy-cute?!

hidden messages?
This one was spotted by my in-real-life friend and colleague, Jessica.
I just wonder if the message to the dogs is really code for, "the revolution begins at sunset. spread the word!"

curious traffic guidelines
Angie was amused by some of what she saw while visiting Australia. I think it's safe to say that there must be a fair amount of confusion among drivers there!
Turn left AT ANY TIME with care.
If you wish to make a careless left turn,
you may only do so on Tuesdays and
Thursdays between 12 and 3pm.
Thursdays between 12 and 3pm.
"NOW" as in, "before you ram your car into the wall"?
"Pay here!" "No, wait! No stopping! DON'T pay here!"
(or pay while you're driving by? that might explain this:)

Undertaking? you have to stay to the right.
This one just reminds me of so many other wonderful tourist spots people have seen on their journeys . . . who would want to miss this amazing attraction?
Thanks, Angie!

I've been so negligent . . .
life gets in the way, blah blah blah.
Part of me wonders if I really have it in me to keep up with this blog as well as my other one, but at the same time, I've gotten so much great stuff and would hate to see it die . . . (because you know, there are not nearly enough blogs in the world, right?)
Of course, there are others of you out there doing such similarly wonderful work on these things . . . but how could I walk away from the potential for more ho-made goodness to come?
But I'm going to try to post a few gems tonight yet. Here's one that you'll have to follow the link to--but I have to thank Mike for letting me know about this great clearance event that was going on in Toronto a few years ago when he was there!
